The Lego Castle was a side project that got way out of control. It started with the reacquiring of my childhood Lego collection in 2015. Throw in a little imagination and a lot of pent up unfulfilled childhood ambitions and I found myself powerless to stop the contsruction until the ceiling was reached. It took three years for the process to play out from 2015 - 2018, and Its unusual design was a result from a series of unplanned tangents colliding in inorganic ways. The whole project is an example of my learning to use the familiar bricks in new ways now that I had grown to adulthood. Indeed many lessons were learned which are reflected in the various building methods as they evolve upward throughout the structure. Just for some familiarity I chose to populate the building with Star Wars characters as I happened to have many stormtrooper minifigures. This project was certainly more for fun than anything else, but with that said my hope is to remake it in a new form at somepoint in the future armed with the construction knowledge I gained during the process. There’s much more that can be done!
